Gaby Mechanical · Currumbin Waters
Brakes done properly.
Brakes are the one system where 'she'll be right' isn't a plan. Gaby Mechanical handles brake service and repairs for Currumbin Waters, Currumbin, Palm Beach and the southern Gold Coast — from a straightforward pad change to full system overhauls and heavy-duty towing upgrades.
Every brake job starts with measuring what's actually left, ends with a proper bed-in and road test, and never involves the cheapest pads in the catalogue. Stopping power is not where you save twenty dollars.

The process
How we do it
01
Inspect & measure
Pad thickness, rotor wear, fluid condition, hose age — measured, not eyeballed.
02
Recommend
What needs doing now, what's got another 10,000 km in it. You decide with real numbers in front of you.
03
Replace or machine
Quality pads and rotors fitted, or rotors machined where they're within spec — done properly either way.
04
Bed-in & test
New brakes bedded in correctly and road-tested, so they stop like new brakes should from day one.

Why choose us

Measured, not guessed
Recommendations come with the actual measurements — you'll never be sold pads you didn't need.

Quality components
Bendix, DBA and gear of that grade. The brand names exist because they stop better for longer.

Towing & touring smart
A loaded rig or a van on the back changes everything about braking — we upgrade systems to match the real load.

Questions we get
How do I know my brakes need doing?
Squealing or grinding, a soft or low pedal, shudder through the wheel when braking, or the car pulling to one side. Any of those — get it looked at. Grinding means now, not next month.
Machine my rotors or replace them?
If they're thick enough and true, machining is a legitimate saving. Below minimum thickness or heat-damaged, they get replaced. We measure and show you — the rotor decides, not the sales pitch.
I tow a van — do I need a brake upgrade?
Quite possibly. Factory brakes are specced for the vehicle, not the vehicle plus three tonnes of caravan. Heavy-duty pads, rotors and fluid make a genuine difference in stopping distance and fade resistance.
Which areas do you provide brakes for?
The workshop is at Currumbin Waters, and we're the local choice for brakes across Currumbin, Currumbin Waters, Currumbin Valley and Palm Beach — and right along the southern Gold Coast. If you can get the vehicle to us, we'll look after it.
Do you have a courtesy car?
Ask when you book — what we can offer depends on the day's workload, and we'll always be straight about it. Most smaller jobs are drop-off-in-the-morning, back-by-afternoon anyway.
Can I wait on site while it's done?
Honestly, there's not much waiting room in a busy workshop — but Bread Social is metres away and the cinnamon scrolls are to die for (trust us). Drop the car, grab a coffee, and we'll call the moment it's ready.

Book it in. Sorted.
Call and we'll sort it on the spot — or send a request and we'll call you back to confirm a time.
