Suspension
Ride height, load handling and comfort — set up for how you actually drive.
Gaby Mechanical · Currumbin Waters
Suspension done properly.
Suspension is what we're known for. Gaby Mechanical is the southern Gold Coast's suspension specialist workshop — from daily drivers that ride like tired shopping trolleys, to touring 4x4s that need to carry half a house over corrugations without shaking loose.
The difference is setup. Springs and shocks matched to your actual load and use — not a one-size kit off the shelf — assessed before, tuned after, and road-tested on the roads you drive. Serving Currumbin, Currumbin Waters, Palm Beach and the hinterland tracks beyond.
The work
What we do
- Shocks and struts — replacement and upgrades
- Springs, lift kits and levelling
- GVM upgrades and load-carrying setups
- Bushes, control arms and ball joints
- Steering components
- Towing and touring suspension packages
- Ride assessment before and after fitting
- 4x4, ute, van and passenger car suspension
The process
How we do it
01
Assess
How you drive, what you carry, where you take it. A touring rig loaded for the Cape needs different gear to a school-run ute — the assessment comes first.
02
Spec
Springs and shocks matched as a pair to your load and use, from brands whose gear we'd run on our own rigs.
03
Fit
Fitted properly and torqued to spec — bushes, mounts and the details that decide whether a kit rides right or rattles.
04
Tune & road test
Ride height checked, everything settled and re-torqued, then road-tested against how it drove when it arrived.

Why choose us

Specialists, not generalists
Suspension is a core specialty here, not a sideline — it's half of what our 4x4 touring builds are built on.

Set up for your load
The same vehicle needs different springs empty, loaded or towing. We spec for how yours actually gets used.

We run this gear
The brands we fit are the brands on our own vehicles, proven on beach and hinterland tracks most weekends.

Questions we get
How much lift is legal in Queensland?
As a rule of thumb, up to 50mm of combined lift is generally fine without certification in QLD, and beyond that approval requirements kick in. Rules change and details matter — tell us the vehicle and the plan, and we'll spec something that's both capable and legal.
Do I need a GVM upgrade?
If your loaded touring weight is creeping toward the factory GVM — canopy, drawers, water, fridge, family — quite possibly. We can weigh it up (literally) and tell you honestly whether you need one or just better springs.
Do you do normal cars, or just 4x4s?
Both. Worn shocks and sagging springs ruin any car's ride and braking — we replace and upgrade suspension on daily drivers, vans and utes as much as touring rigs.
Which areas do you provide suspension for?
The workshop is at Currumbin Waters, and we're the local choice for suspension across Currumbin, Currumbin Waters, Currumbin Valley and Palm Beach — and right along the southern Gold Coast. If you can get the vehicle to us, we'll look after it.
Do you have a courtesy car?
Ask when you book — what we can offer depends on the day's workload, and we'll always be straight about it. Most smaller jobs are drop-off-in-the-morning, back-by-afternoon anyway.
Can I wait on site while it's done?
Honestly, there's not much waiting room in a busy workshop — but Bread Social is metres away and the cinnamon scrolls are to die for (trust us). Drop the car, grab a coffee, and we'll call the moment it's ready.

Book it in. Sorted.
Call and we'll sort it on the spot — or send a request and we'll call you back to confirm a time.
